Established in 2000, the National Black Family Promotion Coalition
(NBFPC or Coalition) is comprised of a diverse membership
of individuals, organizations and businesses, including; parents,
community-based organizations, policy makers and advocates
concerned with the health status and well being of black families
in America. Working through Today’s Child Communications,
a multi-service media firm and 4 national chapters, the Coalition
identifies and responds to issues affecting black families.
The Coalition serves as a national vehicle for the following:
Shaping social marketing and media education efforts to inform
and engage the black community on matters affecting their
health and well being.
- Gathering information from black families about their
challenges and concerns relating to family well being and
maternal child health;
- Articulating the health needs of black women, men and
children to organizations serving this population and or
determining policies;
- Providing a clearinghouse of information for best practices
to reach out to and serve the black family in the area of
maternal child and family health;
- Disseminating new information about family well being
pertaining to black families in a format most useful for
policy and decision makers in the public and private sector
at local, state and national levels;
- Providing forums and vehicles for black families and stakeholders
to dialogue about the problems and develop strategies for
addressing issues;
- Promoting interaction and collaboration among stakeholders
on matters relating to maternal child and family well being
as it pertains to black families;
